10317 Josiah Wedgewood Pictorial
Tile. Nice underlay transfer printed pictorial tile, circa 1880 from
Josiah Wedgewood & Sons Ltd. Central pictorial is of a group of children picking
fruit while their mothers look on. Above the pictorial there is an urn and a
pair of griffins, while below is an ornate hanging swag. The outer border is a
decorative floral and foliate motif. The back is a plain rail design which is
embossed No. 1 and stamped with the design number, T279. This tile is in excellent
condition, with one very small chip near the bottom on the left side. Other than
that, it has only a few very, very light scratches and no noticeable glaze crazing.
